Sultan endorses eco-tourism projects in Sharjah

 

H. H. Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council member and ruler of Sharjah, has endorsed a number of eco-tourism projects in the emirate of Sharjah to provide better research, educational and entertainment services.

He stressed the importance of environment legacy and the need to preserve it for coming generations. "The aim of setting up the eco-tourism projects is to preserve the environment of areas endowed with natural beauty. They will constitute a qualitative shift in the concept of eco-tourism in the region as some of animal species will be set free in these projects." The Ruler of Sharjah made the remark during the coordination meeting between the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shorouq) and the Environment and Natural Protected Areas Authority in Sharjah (EPAA).

He endorsed the Mangrove Protected and Al Ghail Valley Project in Kalbaa, which is one of the biggest eco-tourism projects in the UAE. Sheikh Sultan also approved Wasit Protected Project in Sharjah City. It will include rare birds from the Arab Peninsular environments.

Present were Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairperson of (Shorouq), Salah bin Butti Al Muhairi, Head of the Department of Planning and Survey, Hana Al Suwaidi, Director General of (EPAA), Murwan Al Sarkal, Executive Director and a number of environment specialists.
