Sharjah Ruler opens Victoria International School
His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, UAE Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah today opened Victoria International School in Sharjah, in presence of John Brumby, the Prime Minister of the Australian state of Victoria.
Sheikh Dr. Sultan and Brumby unveiled the commemorative plaque and a hand woven carpet presented by the government of Victoria. The carpet, designed by a renowned artist, depicts the bushfire disaster last year.
Sheikh Sultan and Brumby toured the school which offers educational services up to grade 12 and caters for 700 students. They also stopped at the school's indoor complex.
Sheikh Sultan praised the cooperation between Sharjah and Australia in the fields of education. He said the school would have students from 68 nationalities which makes a haven of diversity.
Brumby said the new secondary school was "just a wonderful advertisement for us in the Emirates about the quality of what we do in our schools." Sheikh Sultan hosted a luncheon in honour of John Brumby and his accompanying delegation which was attended by H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince '&' Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, Sheikhs and senior officials.
